Last Wednesday we had our first ever BRICK Thanksgiving Outreach in downtown San Diego and it was a huge success.
With the help of the junior highers from 4-6pm, we assembled over 120 sack meals that included a turkey sandwich (made from a home cooked 25 pound turkey), a bag of cookies, and a juice box. The students also decorated the bags with pictures and holiday blessings for those who would receive them.
Our high schoolers showed up at 6pm to hop in the church van and head downtown where we would distribute the bags to those living on the streets this holiday. Interactions were meaningful and all who received a meal were so appreciative.
This activity was a tangible show God's love through the BRICK students and really embodies our purpose statement:
We exist to provide young people a safe and fun environment to engage God and their peers. We desire to provide students with authentic exposure to the love of Jesus, the truth of scripture, and the current work of the Holy Spirit.

Here are details on the ingredients and prep for our BRICK Thanksgiving Outreach:
The Brick staff has determined we'd like to prepare about 100 sandwiches! A Google Doc has been created for those who want to donate some ingredients. Great thing about Google Docs - you can see what everyone else already signed up for, so there's no confusion or repeats!
"Deli Turkey Cranberry Sandwich":
- Mayonnaise
- Cream cheese
- Cranberry sauce
- Shaved turkey slices
- Lettuce
- Bread
